Latest Update

May 16, 2017

Thank you to everyone that has helped the program during our campaign to raise funds to purchase new wrestling mats and wall padding for our wrestling room. Although many have helped, we are still working hard on reaching our goal of $30,000 by the end of this week.

The school year has ended here on campus, but our women's program still has athletes training and competing. 2017 Alumni Forrest Molinari, 2014 Alumni Alli Ragan, and Senior Haley Augello competed at the 2017 Pan American Championships. Alli and Forrestt both earned medals, gold and bronze respectively in their weight classes. Haley unfortunately had to medical forfeit before competition. We also have freshmen Nicole Joseph and Aleeah Gould ready to compete at UWW Junior Nationals this weekend in Irving Texas. They will both be looking to make a junior world team. Aleeah is a 3x cadet & junior national team member and Nicole is looking to make her first age group national team.

Our men's team season has come to an end, but we are working to put together next season's schedule, as well as continuing to bring in top recruits for the 2017 Freshmen Class.

Thank you to all those that have given! If you can continue to spread the word about our fundraiser via email, social media, or even word of mouth, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

King University Wrestling

Welcome to Our Rally Campaign

Hello we are the Men’s and Women’s wrestling program at King University in Bristol, Tn. Men’s wrestling has been a varsity sport since 2005 and the women’s team was started in 2009.  We need your support at this time to provide enhancements to our practice facility. With the wrestling program over 10 years old, our wrestling room has seen a lot of use and we are in need of new mats totaling $30,000.00.

King provides institutional support for our wrestling programs, as it does all of our varsity programs. Team budgets finance travel expenses, practice gear, uniforms and other necessary expenditures.  The goal of this rally is to enhance that support and provide our student-athletes with the best possible training experience.  With your help, we can make upgrades to the practice room used by both teams.  Every single contribution is valuable not only to our athletes, but also to every person involved and invested in our program.

Why We Are Raising Funds

With the money that we are able to raise we are going to update the wrestling practice room with new wrestling mats, wall padding, and other items as needed to ensure our athletes can continue to train and compete as one of the nation’s premier programs.

How We Got Here

  • King’s men’s wrestling program was started in 2005-2006. Since then we have had 37 National Qualifiers and eight All-Americans. This past season we had two men qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship both earning All-American honors. Dustin Kirk placed third - the highest of any King University men’s wrestlers.
  • King’s women’s wrestling program was started in 2009-2010. After going 1-9 in the inaugural year the women’s team has never looked back, placing in the top three from 2011 to present. Our women’s team has won the past four National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Dual Championships, as well as the past four Women’s College Wrestling Association (WCWA) National Championships. During the last eight years we have produced 19 College National Champions and 72 All-Americans. Not only has our women’s team been successful on the college level, but many of our women have continued their wrestling at the senior level, winning and placing at national tournaments, competing internationally and winning medals at these international competitions. This past summer, junior Haley Augello won in the 2016 Olympic Trials and competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
  • Having two wrestling teams has created a tremendous amount of use of the wrestling room. With both teams practicing sometimes two times a day, the mats have been used extensively.

Our Team

Support for King and its student-athlete programs is shown and felt every time we compete and we are grateful for all who give to these programs and cheer us on.  Without you by our side we would not be able to be where we are today. Your continued support allows our teams to excel at all levels and has laid the groundwork for our success as one of the top programs in the nation.

Join Our Team and Spread the Word!

Please join our team and help us elevate the experience for our student-athletes as we raise money to help purchase new wrestling mats, wall padding and other equipment for our wrestling room.  With your support we will be able to provide a wrestling room that is equal to our accomplishments and allow us to train freely and at the highest level. You can support our goal by spreading our message to others using the social media links on our page. We appreciate all of the encouragement we have received from the King family in the past, and look forward to your continued support!

    Good morning!

This past weekend our women's team had 7 athletes compete at the 2017 World Team Trials. 2016 Olympian and Junior Haley Augello continued her dominance on the senior level as she won the 53kg weight class and will be competing at the 2017 World Championship in Paris, France in August.  Joining Haley in Paris will be 2014 graduate Alli Ragan, who made her 4th consecutive World Team this weekend at 58kg. The Doi twins Marina & Regina finished 4th and 5th respectively at 48kgs,while Freshman Nicole Joseph finished 4th at 60kg in her first World Team Trials. Senior Forrest Molinari finished 5th at 63kg. King Alumni Sarah Hildebrandt finished second at 55kg & Alumni and Assistant Coach Julia Salata finished 6th.

We had another major event going on last weekend with King University hosting graduation. Congratulations to all of our senior men and women who graduated this weekend: Landon Reed, Reed Jacks, Breonnah Neal, Hanna Grisewood, and Forrest Molinari. All of these students have done an excellent job not only on the mat but in the classroom as well.

Thank you to all of you who have supported our campaign in the early days. We appreciate all of your support.  There is still a ways to go to reach our goal and we would like to ask everyone’s help in sharing our message.  You can continue to support our rally by spreading our message to others using the social media links on our page.  Or check out our Facebook and Twitter pages for the latest updates and challenges to share with your friends.  This week we are trying to reach $15,000 by the midpoint of the campaign.  If we make it by Sunday evening, the coaches will be getting a pie in the face next week.

    Thank you!
